The School Council

The School Council is made up of pupils from each year group. They meet regularly to bring the opinions of the children to the attention of the school staff.

The next meeting is in October 2009. If you have any ideas about how the school can be improved please tell your class representative.

These are the points discussed at the last School Council Meeting

A new mural by the playground

Children thought the design competition was a good idea.  They would like to draw, write, do designs on the computer or make a model.  Each class could produce an entry or a group of children could get together to submit an entry.

Mrs Parish says : "Mr Lavelle has been working with the staff at Thames Valley University whose students are going to prepare the wall. We will then have a competition and the class that wins can create the mural".

Cranbury College

Children said pupils from Cranbury College are still disturbing lessons in Y4, 5 and 6.  So could some of School Council meet children from Cranbury College and explain importance of not disturbing lessons?

Mrs Parish says : "Mr Lavelle has been working with the staff at Cranbury to stop this happening. He is also looking into putting gates in the gaps in our fence so your learning won't be disturbed".

School grounds

Children would like to have "Plant Keepers" to water plants, do weeding of flower beds?  Also children who have misbehaved could do "litter patrol" during lunchtime as part of their punishment.

Mrs Parish says : "We all have a responsibility to keep the School tidy. I know Miss York runs a Gardening Club and I am hoping they will turn the grounds into something beautiful. I like the idea of litter patrols and will be speaking to Dawn about organising them.

Could we have more toilets redecorated?

Mrs Parish says : "I agree lots of toilets need modernising. I have put money aside this year and hope to modernise some every year"

Memorial Garden

Children thought the design competition was a good idea.  They would like
to draw, write, do designs on the computer or make a model.  Each class
could produce an entry or a group of children could get together to submit
an entry.

Mrs Parish says : "Mr Lavelle has organised some teenagers to work on your ideas for reusing the 'memorial Garden over the Summer so the next stage is to ask the classes to come up with designs".I shall speak to your teachers next week to discuss how we can proceed."

Could there be a "Toilet Patrol".  A boy and girl who could have a checklist at lunchtime to check loos at 12.30, 13.00 and 13.20?  Could they have a digital camera too?

Mrs Parish says : "An interesting idea. I know Mr Lavelle has been working with you to prevent a small minority of children spoiling the cleanliness of the toilets so I am keen for you all to help raise standards. Perhaps Y5 could organise the Toilet Patrol to check the toilets. - Volunteers to Miss York please!
